Claiming Your Address On The World Wide Web

Claiming Your Address On The World Wide Web

Getting Started

Congratulations on taking action towards creating a better future for yourself. If you’ve found this page you more than likely found a great opportunity and are now working towards your goals in succeeding with your new business.

So, where do  you go from here?

Let’s get into it. Your first step would be to access your company’s back office and update your profile, address, and Information. Get familiar with the company’s compensation plan and adjust your financial information to ensure that you can receive payment. After you have doubled checked that you are able to receive funds in accordance to the company’s rules and regulations you’re off to claim your address on the world wide web.

Claim Your Domain Name Here:

godaddy-jonmroz.com

Notes:

  • Try to include your company’s name within your domain name for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) reasons. An example would be YourCompanyNameLeaders.com
  • You have a couple options as to what to do with your new domain name. You can forward your domain to your company affiliate link, or get a hosting account and install wordpress to your domain (Discussed in later tutorials). Ultimately, I recommend installing wordpress to your domain to help brand yourself as someone your prospects can get to Know, Like and Trust.  If you’re using a company replicated site, people won’t know if there is a real person on the other side and that often leads to reduced sales. But, if you temporarily want to send prospects to your new domain name, forwarding it is a great solution for now. In the next tutorial we will change your nameservers and install your domain to your host. So, forwarding your domain is optional and you can skip to the next step if you decide to do so.
  • If  you decide to forward your domain, ONLY forward it. Do not “Mask” your domain in addition to forwarding as your company replicated site will often disable “cookies”.

    Hi Jon,
This video was great, good instructions and details. :)
I wish I come up on it before I have learned all this the hard way.

    Jon,
For those of us who would like to proceed a little faster is there a way?
Must I wait a day to get the next lesson? Sorry, I don’t mean to be inpatient I just want to get going.

    Thanks for everything

  2. Jon Mroz Says:

Hi Olghi, Thanks for the feedback :)

Absolutely. At the bottom of every page there is a link that says: “Next Up – …..”
Just click there and that will take you to the next lesson.

Jon I must say how pleased I am to have found you on the web.
I learned more in that video than I ever have in years of fooling around on google asking questions like these that are never exposed to people who aren’t computor literate.

Hi Sawa, great to hear from you. If you are referring to the video with me in front of my home theater I just used a flip cam for that. You can get those for pretty cheap at best buy :)

To record my computer screen I use camtasia (you can just google that)

    Hope that helps

Hey Jon. Im no dummy when it comes to tech and marketing, but I’ve decided to do your tutorial one page at a time. And I must say, good stuff. Simple and easy to follow. Now to step two!

  12. Scott Kaiser Says:

Great video. Very informative and easy to follow. One thing though, my user interface on my domain manager looked different from yours on the video. It was a little confusing at first but then I realized that I was viewing it in the advanced settings mode. Once I selected the quick view option, it looked like the video.

  13. Jon Mroz Says:

Thanks Scott. That should be helpful to others viewing this tutorial as well. Appreciate the feedback.

  25. Shanon Says:

    Hi Jon,

Thanks for sharing the useful info, need to check with u whether it’s advisable to register the product name as domain name?
    ie: productABCreview.com

  26. Rowena Says:

The training and videos are great thanks for all the information. I look forward to or training… Thanks

  27. Jon Mroz Says:

Hi Shanon, yes it could absolutely be beneficial. You may want to do a little market research on your product though. See if the product has a lot of competitions and if you will be able to compete in the market. If there are over 600,000 results in google for your product keyword you usually know that a good amount of SEO will need to be done. Your good # should be between 100,000 and 400,000. Hope that helps.

  30. Gary Rainey Says:

    John,
I wished I had seen this video before I purchased my first domain. I asked around to several people what is the best way to go about a domain name and I was told if my name.com was available to buy it so I did and now I find out that I should have had my business name in the domain name. Can you email me so we can discuss this?

    Gary

  31. Jon Mroz Says:

Hi Gary, good to hear from you. Buying yourname.com can also be great. It really just depends on what you are trying to do. As you probably noticed, you commented on jonmroz.com (myname.com). I have another site up for my company as well. I rank highly for my company targeted keywords when people are researching joining that company, and then also have this site – jonmroz.com, that allows me to give back and provide value to the industry. Hope that clarifies and helps a bit.
