Why Become An Entrepreneur?

Why Become An Entrepreneur?

Why Would You Want To Become An Entrepreneur?

All too often, people get started in this industry with the wrong intentions. When asked the question as to why they want to join an MLM, network marketing opportunity or simply start marketing on the Internet to build their own business, their answer usually sounds something like:

I want to make a lot of money.
I want to drive a nice car.
I want to get out of debt.
I want to fire my boss.
I want to buy a nice house.

Now, don’t get me wrong – all of these things are great. They can be used as motivators, but should NOT be your reasoning for becoming an Entrepreneur.

These are results, not reasons.

You can make a lot of money as a result of working smart.
You can fire your boss as a result of making a lot of money.

The reason for which you would want to become an Entrepreneur should be much deeper though.

First, you must “Understand Your Why“.

Your “Why” should not be monetary or material motivated because if it is – you will never get your “How” done. Your why determines whether or not you will complete the tasks that need to be accomplished in order to reach your goals (Your “How”).

Your reasoning for becoming a successful business owner and Entrepreneur should be something that drives you.

Let’s look at a 5 good reasons to “Ignite Your Inner Drive” and start you off on the right foot in becoming a successful  Entrepreneur.

1.) Freedom:

freedomI often feel that when people tell me they want to earn $10K per month, what they’re really telling me is that they want complete freedom. They feel that if they reach a certain income goal, that all their problems will be solved.

Having complete freedom means not having your life controlled by a time card.

As an employee, you are required to ask permission to grow someone else’s empire, where as an entrepreneur, you have the freedom to grow your own.

And if you want to wake up late and enjoy the rest of the day at the beach or on the slopes, you have the ‘freedom’ to do so.

Freedom is one of the many reasons why I absolutely love being an entrepreneur.

2.) Self Improvement and Personal Growth

Self ImprovementAs an Employee, you are trained to get good at one thing. That could be flipping burgers, data input, or answering phone calls for example. And more than likely, this is all you do every day.  Employers pay you to focus all of your time on systematizing one small portion of their business.

As an Entrepreneur, you start to handle different situations and have to wear different hats. You are constantly learning how to solve problems, and deal with all aspects of running your own business.
Personal growth plays a huge role in your development as you continue to improve upon your business. Becoming an Entrepreneur is more than just running your own business. It is about becoming of more value to yourself and others, it is about becoming a better person, and continuous education.

One of my favorite entrepreneurial quotes by Napoleon Hill is:

“If you’re not learning while you’re earning, you’re cheating yourself out of the better portion of your compensation.”

3.) Fulfilling Work (Be Proud Of What You Are Doing)

Proud of what you doAll too often I ask what someone does, only to receive an unfulfilled response of a “temporary” J.O.B.

The fact is – it’s hard to be proud of stuff that other people told you to do. As an entrepreneur, you can claim your accomplishments with pride. Whether it’s an info product that you created or a team that you built in the dozens, hundreds, or thousands… it’s your accomplishment.

And even if it’s a failure – it’s a failure that you (as an entrepreneur) will grown from.

A sure way to double your rate of success, is to double your rate of failure. ~ Tom Watson.

4.) Building Your Own Asset

assetBesides the important, yet can be touchy feely stuff covered above, starting your own business is just flat out – a smart thing to do.

As an Employee – you are choosing to exchange your time for money. And most of the time, it’s just enough to get  you by (if that).

As an Entrepreneur, you are choosing to exchange your time to build an asset which has the ability to pay you for a lifetime. This asset also increases Your net worth rather than your employers.

Let me clarify one important point though – just because you decide to start your own business doesn’t mean that it will become an asset. It will be up to you to learn, apply and grow your own business.

However, with dedication, and implementation, there is no limit to what you can achieve.

5.) To Make a Difference.

One of my biggest fears in life is not having a positive impact on others. I feel that it is important to leave your mark on this planet.

Art, Inventions and Business are some of the only things that you can create that will outlast you.

By building your own organization or business, you not only increase your self-worth, but you provide a product, a service, and a job to people who need it. And if you do it right, your business can continue to thrive and help others long after you are gone.
